A brilliant start to the 2012 road racing season was had by all at Cookstown this weekend.
Bar a few spills, everyone had a safe weekends racing. We wish Wayne Hall a speedy recovery from his crash at practice on Friday, and hopefully we can catch up with him soon.
Below are 2 quick videos from the weekend, a full show will be uploaded shortly.

DUNLOPS/MARTIN/FARQUHAR/BURROWS/DOKUPIL/ARCHIBALD/MERCER”
Just some of the mouth watering names headlining This weekends 90th Anniversary KDM Sponsored Cookstown 100 road races, which has the usual Top of the Pickings from the Top road racers. In a sense, a truly International field!, with riders from as far afield as Australia, and The Czech republic!
With almost 190 entrants, some of the classes are actually oversubscribed, which unfortunately, will mean a few riders could well be disappointed.
Guys such as, lap record holder, Guy Martin (Tyco Tas Suzuki), 22 times a Cookstown winner, local boy, Ryan Farquhar (KMR Kawasakis), McAdoo Racings new rider for 2012, Michael Dunlop, making his first appearance of the season, William Dunlop, Wilson Craig Hondas, , John Burrows (Cookstown/BE Racing),Derek Sheilds, Michael Sweeney, Adrian Archibald, Steve Mercer, Davy Morgan, etc, the list goes on and on!., but, certainly has the ingredients of a fasicinating days racing in store for us.
Here the Tyrone Couriers motor cycle correspondent brings to you a preview of what we can expect to see over the next few days, along with the latest gossip..
RACE WEEK
Thursday Night
The ever popular Classic Bike Run. Please Note, that this run is for Road Legal Bikes Only!!. This will start in the Burn Road Car Park, with the signing on procedure taking place in the Central Inn from 6.30pm, First bike is expected to leave at 7.15pm.
Following this run, there will be a “Meet and Greet” previous Cookstown 100 winners in the Central Inn, where Southern Motor Cycle Historian Harry Havelin, will give a brief run down on the history of the Club, all being well, this is will start at 8.30pm
Everyone welcome.
Classic Parade
During practices on Friday, and again during racing on Saturday, there will be TWO Classic Parade Laps around the circuit, each time, consisting of three laps. Past Cookstown winners in the parade include Adrain Craig (TZ750 Yamaha), Ray McCullough (TZ350 yamaha), Baylon McCaughey(650suzuki), Noel Hudson(1000 Kawasaki), Tom Bell (1000 K2 Suzuki), along with riders such as Stephen Ferguson, Michael Swann, Mick Chatterton, William Mulholland, Raymond McKnight etc.
Fridays run should take place after the eighth practice session, and on saturday, after race four.
Friday; Practice and races
Friday 27th april is Practice Day, and Please Note, that the roads will close much sooner than other years!!, 12 noon is the new closing time, this is because of the no of practices needed to take place, along with the 90th anniversary celebrations, including th aforementioned Classic Laps.
The first practice will be for the Circuit newcomers only, they will get their compulsory five laps in order to familiarise themselves with the circuit. Amongst the 42 newcomers are Scott Campbell, Sarah Boyes, Rob Barber( Inagrural winner of the Electric Bike TT Race), Steve Mercer ( who originally signed to ride for JMF this season), Winner of last years 400 Newcomers race at the Manx grand prix, Gavin Lupton, Daryl Tweed, Jamie Hamilton (KMR Kawasakis), Richard McLoughlin, Alan Kenny, Damian Horan, Wayne Hall, Derek McGee, who was unbeatable in all the support races he contested last year, And two Czech Republic riders, 18 yr old Oli Hanak, and Lukas Petrala.. On the local front, watch out for Steven McKeown. And John McCann
NEWCOMERS, Please Note, Newcomers Bus will leave paddock at 11.00am, AND the RIDERS BREIFING, Which is VERY IMPORTANT to ALL Competitors!, You MUST Attend, and this will take place at the start / finish line at 11.45 am!!
After practices, it is hoped to run Three races, these being, both the 750 support races (A&B) and 400 (b) support races .
Lets have a brief run down on each race, and who to watch out for.
WILL NEED TO PUT THESE IN RACE ORDER
201/400 Support race, sponsored by GREENVALE HOTEL and COOKSTOWN CARAVANS
The first support race of the year are always the hardest to predict, because they are of unknown quanity! .On paper, judging by last years performances, Coleraine rider Davy Black should be the man to beat, along with his race companion, local rider Colin McWhirter on the Hot stuff Suzuki, Colin is also a worthy podium finisher. However, newcomer, Gavin Lupton could well be the man to beat, he was the winner at last years MGP Newcomers race, so has the pedigree to succeed. Another rider, unknown to this part of the country is Scott Campbell, he is worth watching out for, as well as William O Hara, Aussie Josh Trigwell is back again, having being a winner here in 2010, Trigwell will be riding for Billy McKinstry, and shouldn’t be too far away. Scot Robbie Lyall and Richard Ford are both on 650 machines this year, and this could well bode well for both of them , Others to watch out for include Nigel Rea, Neil Vicars, Peter O Flathery, Neil Lyons and local boy, Ronnie Scott. NO 45 is Colin Martin, now based in England, he is originally from Strabane.
Local riders to watch out for in this race include, Julian Kirk, having his first race since crashing during last years UGP meeting, in which he suffered a badly broken ankle, newcomer to Cookstown will be, Armagh motor cycle Dealer, John McCann, evergreen Roy Scott will be on board the Knipe Racing Yamaha, Newcomer from Maghera, Stephen McKeown , could well be a dark horse in his road race debut, however, as his machine is only a stock twin, he may well be down on power, but it certainly wont be for the want of trying, as he set a new lap record for the pre injection class at Nutts Corner last weekend!.
The fastest 24 riders will go in race A, with the next 24 into race B
Race B will be the First race on Friday evening after Practices.
750 SUPPORT RACE SPONSORED By BRAESIDE and SPRINGHILL CAR BODY REPAIR
As with the 400 support races, riders in this class are again of unknown quanity. Last year we saw the emergence of Derek McGee, who didn’t start the season until july time, but won every race he contested in, and almost won the championship!. So who can we expect to be up front here?
Having missed last season, due to a full race season race ban, Sligos Richard McLoughlin could well be the man to watch for, Aussie Josh trigwell and team mate Sam Middlemass, both protégés of Billy McKinstry should be in the running, Damian Horan and Brendan Daly were both impressive towards the end of last year, and like many, is raring to go. From Scotland we have Willie Monie, Robbie Lylall, and Derek Wilkie, englands Scott “Splinty” Campbell and Nigel rea etc, however, my money is on Alan Kenny!
The only Local lads in action are Julian Kirk and George Scott.
With such a high entry list, expect both the A&B races to be very competitive. It is hoped to run BOTH these races on Friday after practices.
After the roads close on Saturday morning at 10.00am, the Club will be endeavouring to get racing underway as soon as possible, with the First race of the day being the Moto3/125 race Sponsored by COOKSTOWN TOWN CENTRE FORUM
Over the past no of years the 125 class has been seen to on a decline, but I ma glad to report, that for this years race, there is a FULL grid of strokers!! AND one moto3 machine. Obvious favourite must be William Dunlop, but local man, Nigel Moore may well have other ideas, the canny rider from beside the Bush road race circuit will be Williams thorn in his side!. Cirian Donnely, Sam Dunlop, Seamus Elliot and paul Robinson would appear to be the main runners, however, we have newcomer, Paul Jordan, Craig Gibson, Adrian Coleman and another couple of newcomers, Daryl Tweed and Sam Wilson, both of good short circuit pedigree. Locals in action include, Warren Reeve, Jack Sands and Gary Jordan. The only female in the race will be newcomer Sarah Boyes.
Probably the most exotic machine in this race will be the new Moto3 machine, to be ridden by Barry Davison, this a brand new machine, the first of its kind here in Ireland, costing a cool 20k!. The bike is slightly down on speed in comparison with the 125s, but no doubt, Barry wont be far away come the chequered flag!
Making a welcome return to racing will be Wayne Kennedy, Wayne was seriously injured in the 5 machine crash at Walderstown last year, but thankfully, is almost fully fit again, and looking forward to returning to the track.
Next race up will be the 7 lap 400 Support race A, Sponsored by GREENVALE HOTEL.
250 RACE SPONSORED BY KDM HIRE.
The 250 class is somewhat down in entries for this year, but don’t let that deter you from the quality of the entry. Odds on favourite must be William Dunlop, whilst Davy Morgan, s long time campaigner in this class cannot be ruled out. Add in Barry Davidson, Cirian Doinnelly, Kevin Strowger, Bryan Allan etc, and it will no doubt be a crackin race. However one rider could well spoil the arty, and that is Seamus Elliot! Elliot, who had a massive crash at last years Bush road races, but has since been back in action, was one of the surprise packages of last years race!.
BA COMPONENTS OPEN RACE
Classic Parade laps
Royal Hotel Open B Race
Moto 450 Sponsored by HAYES FUELS
This race will be run in conjunction with the 400 class, and it unfortunately has a rather depleted entry. With only five riders entered, Ryan Farquhar is the odds on favourite to win, Evergreen Trevor Ferguson (Ryans Uncle) could well make it a family affair, as he has been turning in some good performances on his Yamaha, Others entered are Paddy McColgan, Darran Gilpin and Dave Walsh.
400 race sponsored by HAYES FUELS
The 400 class has a much healthier entry, with regining champion, Paul Maguire heading the list. However, newcomer Gavin Lupton may well have other ideas. Probably the favourite for the race must be Andy Farrell, the rider in the flourscent orange and white livery from Skerries has improved immensely over the past few seasons, and certainly is my choice, his fellow neighbour, David Howard is making a return to racing in this class, so could well be another to watch out for. Scotlands Robbie Lylall is podium potential, as are Jeff Ward, Mick Jordan and Alaistair Bayley. Local rider Roy Scott will be on board the Richard Knipe Racing Yamaha. Only female in this race is Yvonne Montgomery..
As always, the Classic racers bring to us, the memories of yesteryear, but that doesn’t say, they go slow!, anything but it!, in the 350 class, sponsored by BILL EASTWOOD CONTRACTS , making a return to Cookstown again, is evergreen Glaswegian Denis Gallagher, Denis, who first came to Cookstown in the 60s, is an inspiration to all riders, he is still as competitive as ever!, only a few months ago, he competed in a Bungee Jump for Charity!!, You can read about this in the race programme.
Joining Gallagher on Hondas in the 350 class, we have Keith Costello, Barry Davison, Tim Stephenson, herbie Ronan, Mark Megaw, whilst manx man, Allan Brew will be on board his trusty aermacchi, local riders in action are Billy Lyle on the Stewart Honda, and Freddie Stewart.
Stewart, Costello, Lyle, Brew, Megaw are also in action in the 500 class, Sponsored by TYRE SAFETY CENTRE, along with riders such as, Chris McGahan,500 Seeley, Gary Jamieson, and the ever popular Scot Wattie Brown, locals entered here include, Trevor Stewart.
In the 1000 class run concurrently, Robert McCrum makes a return to the track on board the ATH Weslake, and faces opposition from Mark Megaw,Richard Ford and John Scott.
In the 250 class, sponsored by R&M GREENKEEPER LTD, Richard Ford and Maria Costello will be riding Bob Jackson suzukis, along with Philip Shaw, Jeff Ward , Kevin Strowger, and Pete Wakefield, this will be a good race to watch. Chris McGahan will be on board a lovely 250 kawasaki, whilst Barry Davison heads the four stroke charge on the Dempster Honda, only local participant here is Trevor Stewart.
The Classic races will be; Race 7,10&12.
Race 8, COOKSTOWN & DISTRICT COUNCIL SUPERSPORT RACE (A)
Could well be the race of the day! Ryan Farquhar leads the Kawasaki challenge, with Yamaha riders including Adrian Archibald, Michael Pearson, Davy Morgan, Michael Sweeney, Brian McCormack, Michael Dokupil, Ivan Shanly, Derek McGee and Wayne Kirwan, whilst the Honda brigade is headed by William Dunlop, Johnny Burrows (MoiraMRC), Derek Sheilds and if he decides to race, Cameron Donald. Suzukis have been somewhat less popular choice of machinery in this class here on the roads in the past few seasons, but with Michael Dunlop and Guy Martin leading the Suzuki onslaught, it wont be easy picking a winner.
Locals in action here include, Trrevor Ferguson, Paul Cranston Gary Millar and Phil Archer. Amazingly, there are 9 reserves for this class!
As with most of the other classes, there will be full grids for both the A& B races.
The B Race will be sponsored by BRAESIDE BAR & RESTAURANT, and will be race 9 on the programme
BRAESIDE BAR& RESTAURANT Supersport Race B
Race 11, The Feature race of the Day, The Cookstown 100 race, sponsored by KDM Hire and ROYAL HOTEL
This ten lap race will be the feature race of the day, and also counts towards the Irish and Ulster road race championships.
Last years winner Ryan Farquhar will have his work cut out to stave off the tough opposition , which includes, Guy Martin on the new look Tyco Suzuki, Michael Dunlop, who along with John Burrows have only managed to get a days testing under their belts prior this weekends meeting, so both these riders could well be feeling rather rusty in comparison with their counterparts.
Winner of the Gold Cup last weekend at Scraborough, newcomer Steve Mercer could well be a dark horse, but somehow, I don’t think he will have the beating of our home grown heros. Adrian Archibald is always a keen performer, and wont be far away, whilst Michael Person will be hoping that his machine will be sorted in time for Cookstown, following problems at Scarborough.
Derek Sheilds is a rider who could well spring a surprise, Sheilds, who last year won his first national road race has the potential to succeed, whilst Aussie Cameron Donald, if he decides to race, cannot be ruled out for the top step of the podium. William Dunlop has recently come of age with regards to riding the superbike, and, if he can get away with the leaders, he could well score a decisive victory.
Davy Morgan, who won at the Bush last year , is always a wily competitor, Michael Sweeney has the ex Adrian Archibald BMW, Brian McCormack seems to have found his mojo again, and could well be a threat around this Orittor circuit.
A new team will take part in this years race meeting, called Team GAS!, The riders being, the ever improving Shaun Anderson, Paul Gartland and Corran Smyth, these lads formed the team, and they will be contesting some of our local national races as well as travelling further afield to the Continental road race events.
Supertwins Race sponsored by HAYES FUELS & DREW STEWART AUTO REPAIRS
A few years ago, when this class was introduced, many people laughed at it, basically, the bikes eligible, were commuter based machines!, Then Ryan Farquhar began to make inroads on this type of machine, as did Johnny Burrows, no race class is Cheap, but the Supertwins is a cheaper class for riders to compete in, and hence it has taken off big time, with almost 50 entries for this years event, there are going to be a few guys disappointed, as only the top 48 will get to race!
On paper, Ryan is the odds on favourite, Johnny Burrows is the regining champion, Andy Farrell is a winner in this class as has Micko Sweeney, add in Adrian Archibald, now on board Billy McKinstrys machine, he had some problems over the easter weekend, but if they have these gremlins cured, who knows, Archibald still has the hunger to win!
Other riders to watch out for include Michael Dokupil, Davy Morgan, Jamie Hamilton should be well to the fore, All the early season press reports have tipped Jamie to be a front runner, and I am sure he will be hoping to justify this. The Cookstown circuit, should suit the style of the former British superstock champion.
But what are the chances of Michael Dunlop scoring a fairytale debut win in this class? Michael has been a bit late in getting his team sorted for 2012, and track time has been very limited! It will be of somewhat unknown terrority for Michael, but he can adapt to any size of bike pretty quickly, so no doubt adding to the excitement.
Maria Costello MBE will be on board her new machine backed by Pizza Racebike, Aussie Josh Trigwell,up and coming rider, William Davison, and Ian Morell are just some of the names to look out for, in what could well be the best race of the day!.
Double Manx Grand Prix winner, Andrew Brady will make his supertwin debut,Whilst Robert McCrum will also make his race debut in the supertwins on board Alaistair Henrys ATH Suzuki. Other locals to watch out for in this race include Ronnie Scott, Julian Kirk and Colin McWhirter, In what was a Suzuki dominated class a few years ago, there are 23 ER6 Kawasakis entered.
Supertwins B Race
ROYAL HOTEL SENIOR COOKSTOWN 100 B Race,
Recovery Vehicle will only go out if required, and Only on Instruction from the Clerk of the Course, Francis Everard.
Indie Back!
Michael Dukopil, the ever smiling rider from the Czech Republic will make a return to Cookstown again this weekend, last year his season came to a rather abrupt end, when he crashed out on the opening alp of the first open race, his spectacular crash was captured by many race fans and became a global hit!
Thankfully Michael was able to make a full recovery, as he went on to win the 600 cc championship in his homeland. Michael returns with two of his friends, newcomers Lukas Petra and Oli Hanak He is always popular with the Irish fans, and no doubt will receive a heros welcome when he appears next weekend.
Dokupil will be riding 600 yamaha and has a new ER6 for the Supertwins class.
Conor McGinn, Guest of Honour this weekend
One of Irelands finest riders in the 80s was Conor McGinn, a past winner at the Cookstown 100, when the races were held over the Sherrygrim circuit, Conor was unfortunately seriously injured in the second lap of the re run of the 19XX Senior TT, he crashed IN THE Glen Helen section of the course , and suffered serious injuries, resulting in paralysis from the waist down.
Conor still attends motor cycle events, and only recently, attended the Clubmans meeting at Mondello, where we had a wee chat. Conor is looking forward to coming to Cookstown, where he will be a guest of honour, and will have the honour of starting some of the races. Conor will be about the start finish area on race day, so no doubt, he will be glad to meet you for a chat.
Ladies at Cookstown
The Cookstown 100 wont be an “all male “ affair!, as there are three females entered. Second fastest lady around the mountain circuit in the Isle of Man, Maria Costello MBE, is obviously the better know of the trio, however, lets not take away from each of the others, because, they are very game competitors, in a fast moving sport. Yvonne Montgomery, has raced at Cookstown in previous years, and is a former Show Jumping competitor!. Yvonne will be out in both support races, she has forsaken her trusty sv650, and will now ride a 400 honda, along with the 600 suzuki. Yvonne has previously competed at the Manx Grand prix.
Sarah Boyes is a newcomer to the Cookstown 100 races, sarah, who made her Manx Grand Prix debut last year, has been a regular competitor at the Scarborough road races, and is eagerly looking forward to her Cookstown debut, Sarah will ride in the 125 class.
Maria Costello, is no stranger to Cookstown, she has raced here on a few occasions. This year she will be on board the Cookstown/BE Racing 600 yamaha, as ridden in the past by John Burrows, Maria, will also be out in the supertwins race. Maria enjoys the Cookstown circuit, but unknown to many, has family connections from years gone by, in the Cookstown area!!, so no doubt, Maria will be looking for a good result.
Local Riders
Quite a few local riders will be in action in this years event. Of course we have the established stars such as Ryan Farquhar, Johnny Burrows, Paul Cranston, Robert McCrum etc, but we also have some newcomers to the track, including Paul Jordan, from Moneymore, Paul is a competitor in the British 600 Championship, and is a past front runner in the 125 British Championship, he will make his debut here in the 125 class.
Julian Kirk, will be back in action again, his first race since his high speed spill at last years Dundrod 150 races, in which he suffered a badly broken ankle. Julian will be riding in both support classes.
Colin McWhirter hopes to be in action, but work commitments may rule him out, if he comes to the line, he is within a good chance of a podium in the 400 support class.
Ronnie and George Scott.
The father and son race team from Magherafelt, George will be in action in the 750 support class again, and has many years experience, Ronnie will be in action on his new 650 kawasaki, in both the support and supertwin classes. Gary Millar, last years 750 support champion, will now race in the 600 class, Phil Archer, Trevor Ferguson, Robert McCrum, Craig Gibson, John McCann, Stephen McKeown, Adi Coleman, Roy Scott etc.
New Lap Record?
With over 8k in prize funds, and 250 pounds to the Man of the meeting award, you can be rest assured, given good weather, the circuit lap record, held by Guy Martin will be broken, with quite a bit of re surfacing been done, especially on the road from Gortin Corner, towards McAdoos, it is really short circuit surface!!, so, Yes, Lap records look set to be broken!
Obey Marshalls
When you attend a race meeting, you cannot fail to see the race Marshalls, they will be kitted out in either Orange or Blue overalls!, These guys (and Ladies) are there for YOUR Benefit!. They, like the race officials, have a very important role to play, in the safety of the race meeting. They have been trained , so in case of an accident, or whatever may arise, they are ther to help.
They do have a lot to put up with, with quite a lot of the Public, so Please, OBEY the Marshalls.

This years KDM Cookstown 100 90TH Anniversary Programme is a must for ALL road race fans.
When you purchase the programme, not only are you helping to offset the massive costs of the event, but you will have the unique 90th Anniversary Programme, which will undoubtedly become a collectors item.

At the previous weeks KDM Cookstown 100 Press launch, probably the biggest vocal point of the night, was the high costs of the running of the event. Not many will believe this, BUT Please read, and take in what you read!
The running costs for the Cookstown 100, will easily be over ninety thousand pounds!!, crippling insurance premiums along with other costs, which we, the ordinary public do not see, make up the bulk of the high charges to the club.
Riders HAVE to pay to Entertain You, the race enthuasist, who, lets face it, probably has NOT paid a penny to watch the race!!
Think about it, if you really want, you could have a whole weekends entertainment, with the Cream of the Worlds top Road Racers, for nothing!!, Now is that helping the sport??
Ask your selves, Should the Riders HAVE to Pay, to Entertain, you the spectator??
With a couple of MLAs in attendance on the night, I hope they took on board a comment made by a fellow Media reporter, that they should be helping the clubs to get a Leglisation in place, that will ensure that everyone will have to pay their way in!
The Biggest problem with ALL road races, is that we have to educate the Spectator to PAY for this entertainment!.
Please, if you are going to the race this weekend, Pay a fiver into the “ I Support Cookstown 100” Bucket, its only a voluntary subscription!, AND buy a race programme, by doing this, you are going a big way, not only to help the club with their costs, but also, helping to ensure that Road racing continues!, and you have ALL the necessary details regarding the days races, along with some good articles to read, and photos from the past.

KENNEDY AND MAR-TRAIN LEAD BRITISH SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP
Podium success for Mar-Train Racing and Jack Kennedy at Thruxton has moved the British Supersport debutants into top spot in the championship standings after just two meetings. Kennedy backed up his hard-fought fourth place in Saturday’s 12-lap sprint with second place in the feature 18-lap Supersport encounter on Sunday. He also posted the fastest lap of the race on lap two of 18.
The Dubliner had led Sunday’s nail-biting encounter on a number of occasions but second place, by a mere 7/100ths of a second secured top spot in the championship standings – also proving the pedigree of the Mar-Train Yamaha.
Taylor Mackenzie continued to make progress at Thruxton, after making the transition to Supersport racing this season from the 125 class. In the opening race on Saturday Taylor posted a 19th placed finished; then bettered his lap time in the second outing where he finished 20th.
Jack Kennedy
“That was probably one of my best races in Supersport and even though we narrowly missed out on the win, I wasn’t settling for anything less than a podium. I’m delighted with second place and my fastest lap… oh yeah and leading the championship! Big thanks to Mar-Train, ‘me Ma and Da’ and my trainer Michael.”
Taylor Mackenzie
“Every time I got on the bike this weekend I managed to go faster so we are making progress. I struggled a bit towards the end of race two with the harder tyre, but again as the race went on I was getting the hang of it more and more. I’m really looking forward to Oulton now.”
Tim Martin – Team Principal
“It’s been a dream start to the season for us, but as I always said, it’s too costly and there’s too much effort being made by a lot of people to come here and just be happy to be racing. Jack and the team did a great job this weekend, and what a battle in that second race. It’s another podium, some more coverage for our sponsors and Yamaha, and we also have the luxury of holding top spot in the championship. No one will get carried away but it certainly is a motivating factor. As Taylor has said, he made more progress this weekend. Our first goal with Taylor is to get him into the points and he’s been chipping away and chipping away. He’s a professional lad and is enjoying his racing. It will all come together for him.”
We are delighted to announce that Ride Ireland in association with Adelaide Insurance & RPM Motorcycles will be our Moto GP broadcast sponsor for the 2012 season. We will be bringing you all 18 Moto GP Races live, including all practice & qualifying rounds please see setanta.com for more details
right lads following on suggestions in previous weeks something has to be done sharpish about the RSA bringing in mandatory hi viz (MHV).
they can't be just let bring this in.
RSA HQ in Ballina (Mayo), Fri 28th Oct @ 1pm
it is the RSA who are sneaking this MHV in, not the EU so there needs to be a protest at the RSA headquarters to give them the undeniable response of the general public that they're targeting.
as per many rants it has to be a weekday, and what better than the day before the "consultation" ends, a friday going into bank holiday weekend to boot.
RSA have said that they will consult with motorbikecyclists about this, and also said Sat 29th Oct is deadline for "consultation", when talking about EU regs. so you can assume the 29th is the deadline for MHV consultaiton too.
we have to keep momentum going after the the Sunday 25th Sept show of numbers contesting.
this focuses the effort on the RSA and their employees, not Joe Public. if it happens to inconvenience some bystander then feck it, the public think MHV is "for their own good" anyway.
this has to be a large number or the RSA will say we're just the minority of motorcyclists who need nanny state to make rules to keep us safe from ourselves.
for those few who think MHV is a good idea, remember if this comes in without resistance then rest assured a host of patronising restrictions will follow.
if you don't overcome the inconvenieces and turn up to have your say in a protest at the RSA HQ...... well then you only have yourself to blame when you're forced to wear jew-badge day-glo clothing, on your own time, or worse - get penalty points because you forgot to wear it.
i've taken the day off work to travel from waterford to mayo for this, so what's your excuse?

The first Kells Drag Race was a great success, it might have rained but it didn't dampen anyones sprits, with excitement and entertainment for all, there was road bikes, race bikes, drag bikes, cars and quads.
Roll on next year !
Another innovative way to raise funds and promote motorcycle racing in Ireland form Kells Motorcycle Club, this weekend Kells is opening the doors of motorcycle racing to all ! thats right everyone !
If you own a motorcycle you can enter, this is a unique and affordable opportunity to try out racing even if you don't have a license, at €40 per entry you get to test your skills your bike and your underpants all at once, in a environment with the highest level of organization and safety standards possible.
If you have the skills you could find yourself alongside some of the islands top road racers including Ryan Farquhar, Derek Sheils and John Borrows, this is a unique opportunity to get a taste for racing at a fraction of the cost of a track day, and for the track day riders out there this is the best opportunity to practice starts that your ever going to get, so take it while it's on offer !
Do you blip your starts like Mickey D or blend your clutch like Derek Mc Gee?
Whatever your style of take off, this is your chance to fine tune it.

RIDER ENTRY UPDATES:
We can confirm that we have a bigger rider entry than Skerries
A large number of newcomers to the Killalane Circuit which is always brillaint to see.
Maria Costello - Due to circumstances beyond her control will not be
competing in this weekends events.
Guy Martin - His entry was confirmed at the UGP with TAS discussing how they would send down two bikes and smaller unit with him as they (the team) were in Donnington the same weekend with Alistar... Latest word last night is that the TAS bikes are not ready.. Guy was in touch as late as last night and was in a mind to arrive to ride in the classic race.... so we can honestly say we have still not a clue if he will arrive or not as he is also supposed to attend some promotion work for sponsors on the sunday...
We would just like to hightlight this to people as we do not want to mislead people into attending just to see Guy.. we took his entry earlier in the year, had it confirmed at the UGP and at this stage we still cannot honestly say if he will be there or not.
Here is a list of riders entered in the 600cc non championship race to be held on saturday night Just to give an idea of the selection of riders attending....

we wish all a safe and enjoyable days racing and look forward to welcoming you all to the Country Crest Killalane Road Races 2011
The Kells Road Racing Club has been running some of Ireland’s most exciting events, year after year since 1994.
RideIreland.com together with the Irish Independent can give you this sneak preview of the new 4.2 mile Lloyd’s circuit. I was invited to one of the feasibility studies and met up with this years winner Cameron Donald to get his opinion.
I asked Cameron what he thought about the new circuit heres a couple of quotes“This will be on another level It's very impressive; there is a huge amount of potential; a technical section, the high speed section is like a speed way; the layout is quite unique; it will attract lot of riders; I can imagine slip streaming right up to the finish line”
How do you feel the new track will go down with spectators? “It will attract an enormous amount of people; the potential for spectators sitting up on the hills is great”.
The new 2012 Lloyds circuit has everything and more, incorporating part of the old Dunlane Circuit. This will truly make Kells stand out from the crowd, riders will be hitting speeds of 170mph+, and it has a narrow back road, amazing jumps and eye wateringly fast sections.
From a spectators view it’s the best you can get, the large banks that swoop around the high speed section will provide a stadium style viewing that has never been achieved in road racing up till now. From the picturesque bridge, to the cringing excitement as the riders approach the jumps, the relief as they land at speed on these narrow back roads, this is the level of riding that the Moto GP racers won’t even try.
The Kells club has held 17 race events over the years and already attracts top name riders like Cameron Donald, Michael and William Dunlop and in the past legends like Joey Dunlop.
The new riders are no slouches either. The raw talent of Mullingar’s Derek McGee is unbelievable. In his first every road race it looked like Derek has thrown away his chance, he overshot the first turn, and it seemed to those watching that all was lost, as bike after bike passed him; he didn’t see it that way and started picking bikes off one by one, and battled into first position wheeling his way past a back marker and across the finish line.
Now with 5 wins out of 5 Derek has wheelied his way into the record books.
There was another record up for grabs this year, and that was new motor cycle race licences issued, which last stood at 44. That has now been smashed as 85 new licences were issued in February this year. We are sure to see another wave of talented new riders at Kells next year with the new track, the club will be able to put 30 riders on a grid.
The 4.2 mile Circuit requires 42 flag marshals, 28 radio marshals and 150 in crowd control; this organisation is working hard all year round. The resurfacing of the 1 mile stretch of back road is being done as I type, the jumps are being prepared and the planning of family activities and entertainment has begun, along with organisation of BikeFest 2012.
I took a trip with Cameron Donald and Aileen Ferguson around the new Lloyd’s Circuit to ask a few more questions. The interview will be up loaded later this evening.
With the country in recession the Kells club is a breath of fresh air.
The organisation and consideration displayed by the Kells club is as professional and down to earth as you can get, working with riders, politicians and county councils.
All opinions were listened to and the new Lloyds circuit will be a stunning example of how things should be done.
I'd like everyone who watches this to email the county council in limerick, and ask them to resurface the road in Athea, Athea road racing club work very hard to to run the races every year, and need more support.
